From May 12 to 15, 2025, the EcoReadyMasuria consortium participated in a conference and workshops in Limassol, Cyprus, dedicated to improving the agricultural knowledge and innovation system as well as advisory services.
The meeting focused on identifying barriers to knowledge exchange and seeking practical solutions to support the implementation of sustainable agricultural practices. Among the main challenges identified were the fragmentation of farms, the aging of farmers, limited collaboration in the sector, and insufficient financial incentives for environmentally friendly activities. At the same time, the importance of motivating factors was emphasized, such as the growing interest in sustainable food production and the exchange of experiences among farmers. Particularly significant are the examples of implementations in neighboring farms, which increase trust in new solutions.
Among the proposed actions were the development of demonstration farms, strengthening cooperation between science and advisory services, and greater involvement of farmers in designing and testing innovations. Attention was also drawn to the importance of local, grassroots initiatives, especially in areas such as water management.
Participation in the workshops allowed for a better understanding of the challenges facing the agricultural sector and identifying directions for actions that support effective knowledge and innovation transfer in Europe.
