On September 25, 2024, at the Rural Initiatives Center in Giże (Świętajno municipality), a workshop titled "How to Adapt Masurian Agriculture to Climate Change?" took place. The meeting brought together farmers, experts, and stakeholders who collaboratively worked on adaptive solutions for milk, barley, red clover, sunflower, and corn production.
During the first part of the workshop, participants identified key changes that have occurred in agriculture over the past 20 years and discussed the challenges posed by climate change. They also analyzed current adaptive practices and potential development scenarios up to 2050, highlighting both threats and opportunities for the region.
The next part of the meeting was dedicated to analyzing examples of best practices from other regions of the world. Participants evaluated their potential for implementation in Mazury, identifying conditions, benefits, and possible barriers.
In the final stage of the workshop, a set of five adaptive solutions was developed, one for each of the key products of the region. These solutions will be tested in the next phase of the project on demonstration farms.
This subproject received funding from the ECO-READY project (grant agreement number 101084201) under an open call funded by the European Union's Horizon Europe research and innovation program.
